The Pumpkin Flower is a seven-chapter English course built around a single story. Sora, a Japanese engineering student, falls through a pumpkin flower into another world and has one week to get home.
Each chapter carries an illustrated, narrated episode, a grammar page, a recorded conversation, three quizzes and a speaking task. The six online activities are meant as homework; the task is meant for groups, in class, in English.
Grammar arrives through the plot: past simple and continuous, modals of deduction, used to, the first conditional, the perfect, relative clauses and the second conditional. Every word written for students sits at NGSL frequency rank 2000 or below, apart from twenty-four glossary words and nine names.
Japanese appears only where a student working alone needs it: the grammar explanations, the feedback on every quiz answer, and the glossary. The story itself is English throughout, because the reading is the real work.
Quizzes allow unlimited attempts and require full marks to pass. The story ends three ways, and each student chooses one.
Teachers get a bilingual manual with screenshots, downloadable as PDFs, and glossary import files. The course restores from one backup file; the tiled layout uses the free Tiles plugin.
「カボチャの花」は、ひとつの物語を軸にした全7章の英語コースです。日本の工学部の学生ソラは、カボチャの花から別の世界へ落ち、一週間で家に帰らなければなりません。
各章には、挿絵と朗読つきの物語、文法ページ、会話の音声、三つのクイズ、そしてスピーキングタスクがあります。オンラインの六つの活動は宿題として、タスクは授業中にグループで英語で行うことを想定しています。
文法は物語の流れの中で現れます。過去形と過去進行形、推量の助動詞、used to、第一条件文、完了形、関係詞節、第二条件文です。学生向けに書かれた語は、用語集の24語と9つの人名を除いて、すべて NGSL 頻度ランク2000以内です。
日本語は、一人で学ぶ学生に必要な場所にだけあります。文法の説明、すべてのクイズ解答へのフィードバック、そして用語集です。物語本文は全編英語です。読むことそのものが学習だからです。
クイズは受験回数無制限で、合格には満点が必要です。物語の結末は三つあり、学生はそのうちのひとつを選びます。
教師用には、スクリーンショット入りの二言語マニュアル（PDF でダウンロード可）と、用語集のインポート用ファイルがあります。コースはバックアップファイル一つから復元でき、タイル表示には無料の Tiles プラグインを使用します。
